MacAle FAQ

Q. How do I join?

A. Click here.

Q. What are your dues?

A. Zero, zip, nada, nae monie!

Q: I don't drink. Can I still join?

A: Yes.

Q: Who do I tell my MacAle name to?

A: You may announce it to the Yahoo Group list if you wish. There is a database of names that have been taken available there. Click to subscribe.

Q: Is there an age requirement for membership?

A: Yes. You must be 21. If you are under aged you may become a MIT (MacAle-in-Training) but you may not choose your MacAle name until you are 21.

Q. Where can I get a kilt or sash in the MacAle tartan?

A. We have not located a source for our tartan yet (see the pattern at the left). If you have - please let us know! (we prefer to find it in cotton - not wool...hey, we're cheap!)

Q. What do I do when I drink bitter beer?

A. Spit it out, mon! Then go rinse with a good Scotch Ale or a lovely cider!

Q. Where are the MacAles?

A. Most of us are in the Western Washington area. We gather anywhere there is a beer or Scottish related activity. View the current Games schedules here.

  • Some of us can be found at the Summer Microbrew Festival on Father's Day weekend each year.

  • We usually gather in the beer tent at every Highland Game. If we are not there when you are...wait 5 minutes...we will be!

  • Our big summer gathering is at either the Tacoma Games or the Seattle Scottish Highland Games every year. (The exact location will be announced on the Yahoo Group mailing list.) You will not find our tent inside with the other Clans...we're set up in the main camping area. The Clan potluck is on Saturday night.
